Environment Agency CEO speaks out on Climate Change

The Environment Agency (‘EA’) for England is an agency of central Government, sponsored by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra). We usually hear about the EA when there is an emergency or a threat of disaster from environmental causes. Otherwise the staff mainly go about their business of monitoring the natural environment and applying the relevant regulations for land and marine management.

The Chief Executive Officer, Sir James Bevan KCMG, has recently made a most forthright speech on the subject of the global and local prospects of Climate Change. Sir James’s long experience with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office before he took up his present post with the EA has doubtless informed the global view and urgency of this timely address: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/speech-climate-change-too-true-to-be-good
