North Hertfordshire District Council is drawing up a plan for the district for the period 2011 to 2031. This is driven by central government recognising the national need for more housing now and for decades to come. The latest stage is a consultation on the draft plan; this closed on 30th November. We took part in a joint team formed with Transition Town Letchworth (including Grow It Yourself Organic), with inputs from HertsWithOut Waste. The team made 30 responses (called representations) on a range of topics related to Sustainability. We selected 16 of those as falling within the Forum’s remit of 8 chosen topics. list
All responses (from residents, community groups, authorities, land owners, companies etc.) will be available to view online in due course via the Council’s web site.
The draft Local Plan and all of the responses will be be reviewed by a Planning Inspector at an examination in public late next year – this does take time! The Inspector will approve or reject the Local Plan or perhaps approve it subject to changes being made by the Council.
